Use and maintenance

We recommend that you clean the nylon strap regularly to prevent sweat residue or other dirt from accumulating on it. Hand wash the strap with cold water. You can remove caked-on dirt or stains with mild soap. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry completely before use.The watch body can be rinsed with water or cleaned with a damp lint-free cloth.

Garmin watch straps should be loose enough to allow for movement on the wrist. However, wrist heart rate monitors should be attached more tightly to the wrist during exercise. Rinse the watch thoroughly and allow it to dry after exposure to sweat during exercise or water during swimming or showering. Prolonged exposure to moisture may irritate the skin during use. Also remember to allow the skin to rest occasionally, e.g. by moving the watch from one wrist to the other. Avoid the following chemicals to prevent surface changes and skin irritation: insect repellents, moisturisers and emulsions, greases, perfumes, hand lotions, soaps, sunscreens.
